About Osteopathy
Sharon Procter Registered Osteopath
Osteopathy is distinctive in that it recognizes that much of the pain and disabilities we suffer stems from abnormalities in the function of the body, as well as damage caused to it by disease. Changes in the subtle balance of this neuro-musculo-skeletal system can result in altered disturbance of blood supply, drainage and dysfunction of the nervous system, flexibility and mobility. Whole body care is an integral part of our treatment approach.
Visceral Osteopathy is an approach focusing on the bodies internal organs and may include some structural techniques, in addition mobilization of internal structures increasing motility and decrease local congestion.
Osteopathy can help an enormous variety of different symptoms and problems in babies, children and adults. Part of the way it works is by understanding that every per of the body is dependent on other parts working efficient if one area is restricted then it compromises other areas and systems.
